Baby David: Eleven Months

David is now 11 months old. He is energetic and likes to explore. Here are fun facts about David at 11 months:

  • He loves toy cars. He’ll push them around all over the house.
  • He is a master crawler. Sometimes he does this funny crawl where he crawls on one knee and one foot.
  • He walks all around while holding onto furniture. He sometimes stands for just a second or two.
  • He’s still accepting of pretty much all foods. He seems to really enjoy cheese. Early on, he seemed to dislike mashed bananas, but now loves cut up bananas.
  • He has two bottom center teeth, and one of his upper center teeth is starting to peak through.
  • He likes to have a soft blanket by his face when he sleeps at night.
  • He often takes a while to fall asleep when it’s time to nap. If you stand outside his room, you can hear him coo-ing and talking to himself. Yesterday, he was even laughing to himself.
  • We have a clean/dirty magnet on our dishwasher. David likes to take it off and stick it under a rug in the kitchen.
  • He loves to smile all the time, and he’ll smile at anyone and everyone.
  • He’s started to do a lot more yelling at home. I think he likes to hear his own voice. When we’re in public, people comment that “he’s so quiet” but he’s not quiet at home haha.

A Visit from the Iowa Grandparents

Near the end of August, John’s parents came to visit. While they were here, we headed into DC and visited the Newseum and the U.S. Botanic Garden and ate a delicious dinner at Carmines. We also visited Gettysburg. Unfortunately, David did not really tolerate the Gettysburg museum well (he’s normally super low key). So, he and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out ways to be happy, and bonus, I dropped my phone and cracked my screen haha.

Of course, the main attraction John’s parents wanted to see while they were here was their grandson 🙂 They were here for a week, and we enjoyed spending time with them. I especially appreciated them watching David for me while I went to a hair appointment that ended up being four hours (that’s a story for another day, but I loved how my hair turned out in the end, so it’s a win!).
